Houses in new residential area

Inspection Politiekeurmerk Veilig Wonen (PKVW) (‘Police Label Safe Housing’)

The Politie Keurmerk Veilig Wonen (PKVW) covers security in houses, residential buildings, large residential complexes and residential suburbs. It actually comprises two labels; PKVW New Builds and PKVW Existing Builds. PKVW (applied since 1995) achievements speak for themselves. In existing builds, the probability of a successful break-in will decrease by 60% and in new builds even up to almost 90%.
A certificate is issued if a prescribed set of requirements regarding social safety, liveability, burglary prevention and fire prevention is complied with. A manual comprising these requirements is available for both labels.

Kiwa FSS has been involved as an inspection body in the implementation of the PKVW since 1997. Our inspectors work in housing projects across the country to assess against the PKVW requirements on a daily basis. If a project complies, an inspection certificate will be issued on the house, complex, surrounding environment and/or suburb.
