Certified and tested metal piping products are relevant for producers, suppliers, applicators, pipe manufacturers, drinking water companies, installation companies, regional water authorities and municipalities who demand to work with high quality products, or require complying to regulations.
About metal piping certification and testing
Kiwa Watermark quality mark certified metal piping products guarantee compliance with the requirements of Dutch and international standards for products used for drinking water distribution. In addition, the products meet the strict hygienic requirements, as set by the Dutch government.
Only products that meet all requirements - including an agreed constant quality level - can be certified by Kiwa with the Kiwa Watermark.
Kiwa Watermark certification evaluation guidelines
The Kiwa Watermark evaluation guidelines include all requirements set by the market and government for products that come into contact with drinking water: both the private, functional requirements and the public, hygienic requirements.
Copper tubes (BRL-K760)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K760 applies to products intended to be applied in drinking water installations for the transport and distribution of hot and cold water.
The evaluation guideline BRL K760 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for copper tubes.
Copper tubes provided with an external covering (BRL-K761)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K761 applies to products intended to be applied in
- sanitary installations (in buildings) for the transport of warm and cold drinking-water;
- hot water heating systems (temperature not exceeding 100 ºC) including underfloor heating systems; domestic gas and liquid fuel distribution systems.
The evaluation guideline BRL K761 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for copper tubes provided with an external covering.
Steel pipes for the transport of drinking water (BRL-K762)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K762 applies to seamless or welded steel pipes and corrosion resistant steel pipes intended to be used for the transport of drinking water and a working pressure of 1MPa (1.000 kPa), with a water temperature up to 65°C and a maximum water temperature up to 90°C for a period of maximum 1 hour.
The evaluation guideline BRL K762 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for steel pipes for the transport of drinking water.
External cladding for metal pipes (BRL-K767)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K767 applies to products intended for use as an external lining of metal pipes.
The assessment guideline BRL K767 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for external cladding for metal pipes.
Steel pipes for general applications (BRL-K771)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K771 applies to products intended to be used for general purposes such as construction and equipment manufacturing, as well as for the transport of liquids and gases in pipe installations, equipment manufacturing, tank construction and petrochemicals.
The evaluation guideline BRL K771 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for steel pipes for general applications.
Ductile cast iron pipes and fittings for the transport of drinking water (BRL-K772)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K772 applies to products intended to be used as a piping system for the transport of drinking water, with a nominal diameter of DN 40 up to and including DN 2000, at a maximum water pressure of 1 MPa and a water temperature of 30°C.
The evaluation guideline BRL K772 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for ductile cast iron pipes and fittings for the transport of drinking water.
Ductile iron fittings for piping systems of ductile iron (BRL-K775)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K775 applies to products intended to be used as part of a piping system for drinking water transport with a nominal diameter of DN 40 up to and including DN 600, at a maximum water pressure of 1 MPa and a water temperature of 30°C.
The evaluation guideline BRL K775 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for ductile iron fittings for piping systems of ductile iron, grey iron, steel, PVC-U, PE or fibre-cement for the transport of drinking water.
Seamless and welded non-alloy steel tubes (BRL-K795)
This BRL has been withdrawn on 15 May 2018.
Piping systems with thin copper tubes with an external solid fixed plastic covering (BRL-K10018)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K10018 applies to piping systems with thin Copper Tubes with an external solid fixed plastic covering are intended to be applied in:
- sanitary installations (in buildings) for the transport of warm and cold drinking-water;
- hot water heating systems (temperature not exceeding 100 ºC, recommended operation temperature between 70 ºC and 95ºC);
- under floor heating systems;
- cooling systems.
The external covering is primarily intended for the chemical and mechanical protection of the pipe surface during transportation, installation and service. In addition, the covering can be used for providing a thermal insulation for the pipe. In the latter case the covering shall meet the additional materials requirements as specified.
Under the certification products we understand the copper tubes with an external fixed plastic covering with the fitting, the combination, copper tube and fittings are listed on the product certificate.
The evaluation guideline BRL K10018 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for piping systems with thin copper tubes with an external solid fixed plastic covering.
Flexible and possibly extensible metal pipes (BRL-K14028)
Kiwa Watermark certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL K14028 applies to products intended for use in connecting appliances to tap water installations with an operating pressure of no more than 1000 kPa and a water temperature of no more than 90°C. Flexible and extensible metal pipes can be integrated into a device.
The evaluation guideline BRL K14028 is a certification scheme for the Kiwa product certificate for flexible and possibly extensible metal pipes.
