With our extensive range of services, we possess a wealth of knowledge and can provide appropriate solutions to various challenges, including:

  • Developing or refining bespoke standards;
  • Establishing the assessment process;
  • Independently assessing custom standards;
  • Managing the current normative framework;
  • Being part of the panel of experts;
  • Monitoring developments through benchmarking.

How do we proceed?

Different steps are involved in the development or refinement of a normative framework. The most common steps are outlined below:

Step 1 - Discussing the norm proposal

Kiwa collaborates with you to understand your requirements and existing standards that could complement your needs.

Step 2 - Norm design

Using your requirements and our expertise, Kiwa creates a draft standard. Based on your feedback and further refinement of requirements, a provisional norm design is formulated.

Step 3 - Interpretation document

The interpretation document outlines responsibilities and Kiwa's role in norm management and independent assessment. It also defines an advisory committee responsible for norm management. The document details how auditors can assess the norm.

Step 4 - Conducting pilot audits

Based on the provisional norm design, a pilot audit is scheduled and conducted. This audit primarily assesses the feasibility of the norm and potentially involves adjustments to finalize it.

Step 5 - Publication

Once the pilot audit is completed, the norm is finalized and all responsible roles are assigned, the norm is published. You have the autonomy to decide who manages the norm in the future and how frequently it can be revised if necessary.

In addition to developing or refining existing normative frameworks, Kiwa is often invited to be part of a standardization committee. In these committees, Kiwa shares its expertise and knowledge in developing or managing standards. If you are interested in exploring possibilities with Kiwa, please feel free to contact us.
