SERMI certification Independent Operator (IO) and one employee (IOe)

Independent car, body repair and motorhome companies which work on security-related components of vehicles, such as keys, ignition switches, door locks and the ECU will have to be SERMI certified from 1 April 2024. You at least have to apply for a SERMI certificate for your company and one mechanic, also know as Independent Operator (IO) and Independent Operator employee (IOe). SERMI certification for the employer and employee

The SERMI certificate is named after the European alliance of manufacturers and independent car companies: the Forum for Access to Security Related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information (SERMI).

New European legislation requires independent car, body repair and motorhome companies to be certified to continue working on all car and motorhome components related to theft prevention. The SERMI certificate bundles and replaces all existing certificates by car or motorhome brands. Both employer and employee must be SERMI certified. The certificate of the employer applies to all business locations.
