To check whether fresh fruit and vegetables meet food safety requirements, they are frequently sampled and analyzed. Particular attention is paid to residues of plant protection products, but also to the presence of heavy metals, nitrates or microbiological contamination. As an independent inspection body, Kiwa carries out these samples.

Fresh produce laboratories
Kiwa not only takes care of sampling fruit and vegetables, but also ensures that the samples are delivered to specialized laboratories with which we collaborate. The customers of Kiwa, including growers associations, sales organizations and trading companies, decide for themselves which laboratory should analyze their samples.
Food Compass
An important client of Kiwa is Food Compass. Food Compass has a sectoral residue monitoring and a microbiological research program for the fruit and vegetable sector in which more than 250 companies participate. All samples are taken by Kiwa at the participating companies. These samples are delivered to laboratories and analyzed by them. The Kiwa samplers take the samples in accordance with Directive 2002/63/EC.
